Denmark's Poul Erik Hoyer-Larsen defeated Suprianto, 15-5 15-12, while Bang Soohyun of Korea took the measure of Susanti, 11-2 10- 12 11-2. World women's singles champion Ye Zhaoying bested compatriot Yao Yan in a tightly contested match, 11-6 12-9 to set up a final match with Bang Soohyun. In the other men's singles semifinal match, Chinese national champion Dong Jiong beat Peter Rasmussen of Denmark, 15-8 15-12. In men's doubles semifinal action, Chinese standouts Huang Zhanzhong and Jiang Xin defeated Par Gunnar Jonsson and Peter Axelsson of Sweden, 15-11 15-12 while the Danish pair of Thomas Lund and Jon Holst-Christensen beat the up-and-coming Indonesians Wijaya and Tony Gunawan, 15-9 15-2. World women's doubles champions Gil Youngah and Jang Hyeock of Korea came back after losing the first game to defeat the Chinese tandem of Qing Yiyuan and Tang Yongshu, 12-15 15-9 15-7 to book a place in the finals against archrivals Ge Fei and Gu Jun of China. Ge and Gu beat compatriots Peng Xinyong and Chen Ying 15-10 15-10 to qualify for the championship match. In mixed doubles, comebacking Olympic gold medalist Park Joobong of Korea and partner Shim Eunjung prevailed in their semifinal and will face the Chinese pair of Chen Xingdong and Peng Xinyong for the mixed doubles title. World women's singles champion Ye Zhaoying easily turned aside the challenge from Korean rival Bang Soohyun, 11-5 11-0 in a successful 17-minute defense of her Chinese Open title. Chinese men's singles national champion defeated Denmark's All- England hero, Poul Erik Hoyer-Larsen, 15-8 15-9 while doubles specialists Huang Zhanzhong and Jiang Xin beat the world men's doubles silver medalists from Denmark, Thomas Lund and Jon Holst- Christensen, 15-8 15-11. In women's doubles, the Chinese pair of Ge Fei and Gu Jun defeated the world champions from Korea, Gil Youngah and Jang Hyeock.
