October 26, 1996 (New Shuttlenws) - Topseeds Thomas Lund and Jon Holst-Christensen of Denmark turned back the challenge of Swedish archrivals Peter Axelsson and Par-Gunnar Jonsson in one of the men's doubles semifinals at the badminton German Open in Saarbrucken.

The Danes had been beaten by Axelsson and Jonsson in the first game 10-15, but had come back very strongly in the second, whipping the Swedish pair 15-1.

In the decider, both pairs gave it their all and battled to a 13-all tie. In the 5-point setting or overtime, Lund and Holst counted the winning points against only 2 for the Swedes to finish the game at 18-15.

In tomorrow's final match, Lund and Holst will face the Indonesian pair of Victo Wibowo and Seng Kok Keong.

Wibowo and Seng disposed of their semifinal opponents from Malaysia, Rosman Razak and Chew Choon Eng, in straight games 15-5 and 18-15.
