DENMARK AND SWEDEN SWEEP IN EUROPEAN TEAM EVENT April 14, 1996 (D.Shuttlenws) - Europe's leading badminton nations Denmark and Sweden won both of their mixed team ties today to head undefeated into the next stage of the European mixed team badminton championships now underway in Herning, Denmark. Playing in Group B, Denmark whitewashed Scotland 5 matches to none and later did the same to the English side. In Group A play, Sweden vanquished the Poles 5-0 and then the Russians 4-1. In second-tier Group C competition, Wales took the measure of Austria 4-1 to emerge as the Group C winner. In Group D, Ukraine defeated Bulgaria 3 matches to 2 to claim the leader- ship of Group D.
