INDONESIANS STILL DOMINATE ASIAN MEN'S SINGLES April 19, 1996 (D.Shuttlenws) - At the Asian badminton championships now underway in Surabaya, Indonesia, Indonesia continues to show strength in the men's singles event, despite a weakened field caused by absence of its top players and other top-ranked men from the other Asian badminton powers. 11 Indonesian competitors made it into the round of 16, led by the top- seed and world number 13 Hendrawan as well as world number 141 Jeffer, the upset victor over the seeded Yong Hock Kin of Malaysia, ranked number 60 in the world. Only world number 21 Ahn Jae-chang of Korea, world number 29 Chen Gang of China, world number 73 Lo Ah Heng of Malaysia, and the unranked Loo Yugeng of China and Yamaguchi Hiroyuki of Japan managed to break through the Indonesian domination.
