FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FEBRUARY 3, 1997 (COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) - Howard Bach, of San Francisco, Calif., and currently a resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., won the men’s singles title at the Hollyburn Junior Open in Vancouver, Canada, Jan. 31-Feb.2. Bach, 17, defeated the No. 1 seed Bob Milroy of Alberta, Canada, in the finals of under-19 men’s singles competition. After trailing 11-8 in the first game of the final match, Bach rallied to win 15-11, and took the second game 15-7 to clinch the title. After winning the gold medal at the Junior Pan-American games in Puerto Rico this past September, Bach has proven to be the top junior player in North America.
