FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DECEMBER 4, 1995 McPEAK JOINS USBA AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) -- On December 1, 1995, Clifford McPeak of Monument, Colo. began his term as Executive Director of the United States Badminton Association, replacing former Executive Director Jim Hadley. Hadley resigned from his post October 13 to become the Director of Corporate Development with U.S. Cycling. McPeak, 53, brings to the USBA a wealth of experience in managing an Olympic National Governing Body. As Associate and Executive Director of USA Volleyball from 1979-1991, McPeak played a major role in raising the sport of volleyball to a new level of national prominence in the United States. He developed and managed USA Volleyball's corporate participation program and negotiated sponsorship contracts with such corporate giants as Anheuser-Busch, Ford Motor Company, General Foods, and Russell Athletic. McPeak believes that over time he can bring similar corporate success to the USBA. "I believe we can build a strong corporate sponsorship base for the USBA by setting realistic short and long term goals, and working as a team to achieve those goals," said McPeak. "The status of volleyball in 1979 was remarkably similar to badminton's current status in the U.S. I believe through hard work we can make badminton the sport of the 21st century." ### (FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACT PAUL PAWLACZYK, USBA COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR, AT 719-578-4808)
