OR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JANUARY 16, 1996 HAN AND REIDY BOW OUT OF CHINESE-TAIPEI OPEN (COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) -- After a very impressive first round performance, Kevin Han (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Tom Reidy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) bowed out of the second round of 1996 Chinese-Taipei Open. Han upset #21 ranked Indonesian George Rimarodi 15-7, 15-7 in the opening round, but fatigue was a factor in the second as he was defeated by Chinese-Taipei's Chang Jeng Shuyung 15-12, 15- 13. Han is currently ranked 36th in the world in men's singles (as of January 9, 1996). It was a similar story in men's doubles, as Han and Reidy fell to the 15th ranked English team of Chris Hunt and Simon D. Archer 15-3, 15-5 in the second round. Han and Reidy are currently ranked 30th in the world in men's doubles. The Chinese-Taipei Open (Taipei, Taiwan, January 10-14) is a 5-star event on the IBF's World Grand Prix Badminton circuit, featuring $125,000 in prize money.
