Business left over from last year. Various proposals
and items that we agreed to settles this fall for the
upcoming year.
  (1) Players may play any 1 or 2 events in Varsity or JV
      ( present rule says best players must play singles )
      - no good reason to keep existing emphasis on Singles
      - better for players since it allows preferences
        and specialization
      - present rule being ignored anyhow
      - CONSEQUENCE: this scraps "free ride"
  (2) Single Saturday playoff for NCS team selection
      ( present rule says 3 playoffs to completion )
      - gives us an extra week which would be very useful
        at the front of the season
      - eliminates the issue of players "fooling around"
        like we saw this year
      - eliminates the emphasis on singles so gives
        more balanced NCS team
      - fits with specialization from (1)
      - better for players since not school night
      - good "preview" for NCS
      - already the standard for CCS and much of NCS
      - CONSEQUENCE: one chance for each player
      - CONSEQUENCE: $$ since saturday usage at Piner
        requires custodial fee - each coach contribute $20
        and we are set to go
  (3) pre-season open marathon tournament at Piner
      starting next year.
  (4) pre-season LEAGUE fundraiser tournament on
      a Saturday to replace Montgomery Mixed
      - better for players since not school night
      - can offer all events
      - preview for "real" tournaments
      - could expand to out-of-league players
        if we wanted to
      - establish league fund
  (5) We need to establish and maintain visibility
      - PD coverage spotty at best
      - coaches not sending results to Stan
      - NOBODY has full results so all-league
        team very hard to posit
      PROPOSAL- everyone send results to Stan
      after every match. Electronic followup
      is fine but FAX is quick and simple
      - makes _all_ results immediately available to all
        since posted to web ( www.worldbadminton.com/nbl )
      - get rid of errors
  (6) Issues this year
      - shutting down at 6PM whether done or not
      - exhibition and or JV matches not played
        since opposing team went home. 
      - officials refused by coaches
      - obvious gamesmanship
      - very packed schedule with 3 matches/week
      - early start- many teams had little or no court
        space before mixed tourney
      - need more written rules/procedures to avoid
        these and other issues in the future
  (7) If we stay with multi-day playoff during the week
      do we want
       3 days: play-to-completion
          + less time
          + more like NCS
          - double elim is tough on players
       4 days: 3 days of tourneys then ranking
          + more leisurely
          - another day to the schedule
  (8) New coaches needed
       Elsie Allen still without a team due to lack of coach
       Maria Carillo has no coach this year
       Piner needs asst coach
       Montgomery and Windsor are OK
       Petaluma ?
       Casa Grande ?
       Roseland ?
