BADMINTON FEDERATION RELEASES 1996 THOMAS CUP VIDEO by Mike Grossman (from a report filed by YY-NORAM Sportsware) September 20, 1996 (New Shuttlenws) - The International Badminton Federation recently announced the release of a video tape of the 1996 Thomas Cup Finals that took place in Hong Kong in late May of this year. The tape features the tremendous comeback win staged by Poul-Erik Hoyer-Larsen of Denmark in the opening singles match of the Denmark-China semifinals. The Thomas Cup competition is the world men's team championships of badminton. The video tape, Part 20 of the badminton federation's series of tournament videos, may be obtained from the International Badminton Federation at 4 Manor Park, Mackenzie Way, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire GL51 9TX, England and is available in NTSC, PAL and SECAM formats. The video costs 12 pounds sterling plus an optional 3 pounds for registered postage. (Payment must be in British currency by cheque or bank draft drawn on a bank in the United Kingdom or by Eurocheque or UK postal money order payable to the International Badminton Federation). The badminton federation is also negotiating to release a videotape of the Atlanta Olympics badminton competition and will announce its availability as soon as details are finalized. The Atlanta Olympic video is expected to be priced also at 12 pounds sterling. Other tournament videos are also available from the badminton federation. Also available from the international federation are 4 videos on playing badminton. These include - Basic Footwork (Part 1) - Basic Strokes (Part 2) - Tactics for Singles (Part 3) - Tactics for Doubles (Part 4) The cost for each training video is 12 pounds sterling when ordered individually. The Basic Footwork and Basic Strokes set may be obtained for 18 pounds sterling. The two Tactics videos may also be ordered as a set for 18 pounds sterling.
