Definition The World Rankings are lists of players/pairs in order of strength as calculated using a points-based system. 2 Events included The Rankings are derived from all IBF-sanctioned events (except Junior and invitational events other than the World Cup) held during the previous 52-week period. These events are graded and the details published in the International Calendar of Events. 3.Lists The top 200 men's and ladies' singles and top 100 men' and ladies' and mixed doubles world Rankings are published monthly. The full lists of all players who have played in more than one event are published quarterly. 4.Points System Players/pairs win basic points according to how far they progress in the draw of a particular event. The total points won by players/pairs in an event are the sum of the basic points and bonus points won. If players/pairs have a bye or walkover in the first round and lose in the second round they receive first round loser points. However once a match has commenced, appropriate points are awarded. 5.Bonus Points Bonus points are won by players according to the results of head-to-head matches. Players/pairs win bonus points if they beat players/pairs ranked above them at the time of the event concerned. Singles and Doubles Ranking of player/pair beaten Bonus Points 1 50 2-5 45 6-10 36 11-20 24 21-30 18 31-50 12 51-75 6 76-100 3 101-150 2 151-200 1 6.Ranking The ranking of players/pairs who have competed in 8 or fewer events is worked out by taking the total points they have won (i.e. basic point plus bonus points - as affected by any time reduction and dividing them by 8. In the case of players/pairs who have competed in more than 8 events within the last 12 months, the ranking is obtained by dividing the total points by the number of events played. Players/pairs are then ranked in descending order of points. 7.Time reduction Points won(including bonus points) in an event are subject to a time reduction factor. This means that if; … the event was more than 13 weeks ago, points are worth 90% of their original value … the event was more than 26 weeks ago, points are worth 75% of their original value … the event was more than 39 weeks ago , points are worth 55% of their original value 8.Points lists The tables on the following pages show the points awarded in IBF - sanctioned events.
