Flu season is expected to be much worse this year. Although it has long been customary at our club for players to shake hands after a game, some players may prefer to avoid this contact during the flu season. You can clap one hand on your racquet to show your appreciation. Some mirthful members of our club have begun the practice of bowing and saying the word "Swine!" after a game, in honour of Swine Flu (H1N1). Remember to wash your hands before you start to play and at the end of the evening before you leave the building. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth until you have washed your hands.
Play is on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 19:00 until 22:00. All games are doubles, unless numbers permit otherwise. A game wheel is used to ensure that everyone has a fair share of court time and to mix-up the pairings from game to game. We supply the yellow Yonex Mavis 300 brand of shuttle.
We use the 21-point scoring system. This diagram describes the system.
The school is in the south-east corner of Ottawa, just off of Smyth Road.
Parking and entrances are on the north side of Hillcrest High School, facing Smyth road.
We play in the upper large gymnasium: enter through the doors, turn to your left, go up the stairs, go through the doors on the next level, and turn right.
